The free tools do not require an account. Each dataset has its own address and keys. A public dataset can be read without a key; changes require a write key. Private datasets require a key to read them too.
Keys have no automatic expiry. Keep the management key somewhere safe: there is no account recovery. Paid access adds privacy and more permissions; every tier uses strong random keys.
